Provantage has reinforced its commitment to environmental stewardship by recycling 4.7 tonnes of paper and electronic waste in the past year.
Partnering with certified organisations AST Recycling, CJS Group, Go Green Recycling and Iron Mountain, the company has aimed to ensure the safe disposal of IT equipment, televisions and thousands of kilograms of paper, while achieving measurable sustainability gains.
Through its waste management programme, 2.8 tonnes of paper was shredded and recycled, resulting in tangible environmental benefits: more than 48 trees preserved, 75 632 litres of water saved, and 11 703 kWh of energy conserved, says Provantage.
In parallel, Provantage completed the certified destruction and recycling of other electronic waste, including data-bearing devices and electronic scrap. All electronic equipment was collected and processed by MHURI Electronic Recycling, with data securely overwritten or physically destroyed and non-functional components crushed in line with recognised information-security and environmental standards. This ensured full compliance with POPIA requirements and reinforced Provantage’s commitment to responsible data governance.
This aims to be translated into tangible value for clients. Partnering with Provantage aims to enable brands to align with verified environmental and governance practices, strengthening their sustainability credentials while supporting compliance, transparency and responsible data management, says Provantage.
"At Provantage, we are determined to demonstrate that the out-of-home and media industries can lead by example, delivering measurable ESG impact that benefits both communities and the environment,” says Johan Scholtz, Chief Financial Officer of Provantage.
All recycling and destruction processes were supported by formal certificates of destruction and disposal, providing clear audit trails and evidence of responsible practice, adds Provantage.
This initiative forms part of Provantage's broader ESG framework under Leap by Provantage, which aims to integrate environmental performance, social responsibility, and governance accountability into the company's operations and long-term strategy.
