Boipelo Mooketsi, Host of 5 After Hours, has been nominated for Entertainment Radio Presenter of the Year, while Masego "Chresh" Tlhakanye, the creative mind behind 5 Drive, has been nominated for Entertainment Radio Producer of the Year, says the station.
Mooketsi, who has spent nearly a decade shaping her voice and her impact on the air, and who presents the 5FM Vibe Check entertainment news podcast, says, "I am deeply honoured and grateful for this nomination. For the past nine years, I have dedicated myself to growing as a broadcaster and serving my audience with passion, purpose and authenticity. While recognition has never been the goal, moments like these are a meaningful reminder that the work matters, the voice is heard, and the impact is felt. I'm incredibly thankful to God, my family, my team, the SABC and every listener who has been part of this journey. This nomination is truly an honour."
Tlhakanye, who produces content on South African radio for Zanele Potelwa, Nick Archibald and the 5 Drive team, adds, "Three times a charm! To be nominated as Entertainment Radio Producer of the Year while steering the ultimate Drive Time slot is incredible. I've won awards before, but the Basadi in Music Awards hits differently. It's women celebrating women, led by women. Shout out to my 5FM family for the love and support. A massive thank you to Queen Hloni Modise and her team. Right now, I am operating in my absolute prime across TV, radio and podcast. This year is definitely mine — let's bring it home!"
Masi Mdingane, Business Manager for 5FM and Good Hope FM, says the nominations reflect the station's commitment to pushing boundaries, delivering entertainment, igniting conversations and shaping the future of youth radio in South Africa. "Boipelo and Masego represent everything 5FM stands for — innovation, energy, authenticity, massive entertainment and a deep connection to the youth of Mzansi."
"These two shows, 5 After Hours and 5 Drive, are among the most loved across the nation, because of the passion and creativity behind them. We are incredibly proud of these nominations and even prouder of the impact these phenomenal women make every single day," condludes Mdingane.
